

Dr. William James Lassaline was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 5, 1931 to Wilfred and Alma Lassaline. He was one of 9 children. Dr. Lassaline passed away peacefully at home under the gentle care of his family and Mercy Hospice on June 19, 2013 at the age of 81.
He was the beloved husband of Johanne for 57 years. Loving father of Bill (Bernadette) Lassaline, Patty Lassaline, Mary (Tom) Utter, and Jenny (Bryan) Slaughter. Dear grandpa of Peter Lassaline, Annie Lassaline, Michelle Lassaline, Beau Eikam, Katie Eikam, JP Eikam, Sasha Utter, Katya Utter, Haley Slaughter, Kaitlyn Slaughter, and Ben Slaughter. Survived by his sister Lucille (The late Leo) Smilgis, his brother Larry (Mary) Lassaline and his sister-in-law Donna.
Predeceased by his parents; Wilfred and Alma Lassaline, his sisters: Mary Jeanne (the late Harry) Clark, Dolores (the late Duane) Mier, and Terry Lassaline, and his brothers: John Lassaline, Fred Lassaline and Tom Lassaline.
Dr. Lassaline graduated from The University of Detroit in 1953 and the University of Detroit Dental School in 1957. He eventually took over his father's practice which was created in 1919. He has been a member of the Michigan Dental Association and the American Dental Association for 56 years. His dental practice has been in Livonia, Michigan for 39 years.
Dr. Lassaline lived life to the fullest with an endless abundance of energy. He loved boating, photography, golf, scuba diving, and music. He was a member of The Photographic Guild of Detroit, Banjo's of Michigan, and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 28 from 3:00 to 9:00pm with a 7:00pm Scripture Service at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile, Livonia, MI 48152. (Just east of I-275 and Newburgh roads)
Dr. Lassaline's life will be celebrated with a Noon Mass on Saturday, June 29 at St. Colette Catholic Church, 17600 Newburgh, Livonia, MI 48152. (Just north of Six Mile) with a luncheon to follow. Final Viewing will be at the church from 11:30am until Mass begins.
The Funeral Mass will be led by Fr. Gerry LeBoeuf of Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Clawson.
Dr. Lassaline will be laid to rest in Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia, Michigan.
