

Bill was the beloved husband of Helen Cottrell of 47 years and the proud father of James, Donna Mominee-Meier (Michael Meier) and predeceased by Stanley in 2010. Dear grandpa of Sarah, Brendan, Jackson and Elijah, son of Jamie Dudan. His beloved guardian, Aunt Anita Gibons Pizzimenti, preceded him in death in 1986 and her daughter, Dolores Carpenter loved Bill as a brother.
Bill graduated from Benedictine High School in Detroit in 1959; he earned an A.B., English major and a M.A., English major from the University of Detroit. His thirty-three years of teaching were at St. Francis de Sales High School, Detroit; Redford High School, Detroit; and Southfield High School, Southfield (29 years) from which he retired in 1996. He was a grammarian, gardener, gourmet, genealogist and a very "punny" guy. Bill will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Friends may visit Bill's family during a memorial visitation in his honor on Thursday November 15, 2012 from 1 pm until 5 pm then again that same evening from 6 pm until 8 pm at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 W. Six Mile in Livonia Michigan 48152. The funeral home is located on the north side of W. Six Mile, east of I-275 and Newburgh Roads.
Bill's memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 18 at 2 pm at Sweet Lorraine's Cafe and Bar in the Livonia Marriott. The Marriott is located near Laurel Park Mall on the northeast corner of W. Six Mile Road and I-275 at 17100 North Laurel Park Drive, Livonia, Michigan 48152.
Private interment will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made in Bill's honor to Forgotten Harvest, the Detroit Institute of Arts or to the Northville District Library Genealogical Room.
