We are so sad to hear of Carla’s passing and wish to extend our sincere condolences.  This picture  of Carla brings me such joy, it is a beautiful picture of her.  Her smile was so lovely and as I have said many times to Brent and our neighbours, her smile could light up any room”.  Carla was so kind and always so appreciative of the smallest things.   We will always remember Carla as a sweet and kind woman and neighbour.  Carla, we wish you eternal  peace.   We will think of you often and your beautiful smile. 💜

We wish to extend our deepest condolences to Don, Marian and family & friends of Carla. We know that Don and Marian were anchors in Carla’s life and that Don was her rock.

Laura and I have been reflecting on dear, kind-hearted Carla.
We will remember Carla as being so present with us when we were in conversation with her. She would lean in and enthusiastically validate with “Yes, Bob.  Yes, Laura.”  We appreciated her infectious smile and her love of laughter.  Carla always enjoyed hearing about the shenanigans on the street or news about neighbours’ travels. We were often amazed at Carla’s excellent memory to thoughtfully follow up on something we may have shared with her from months before. Above all, despite her own life challenges, Carla was exceptionally compassionate.   Carla was also very appreciative and expressed genuine gratitude for any kindness shown to her.  

Our daughter as a teen and in a knowing wisdom about Carla had once shared with us…. “The world needs more Carlas.’  

Carla, we will always remember your kind heart. We know you are at peace.

We had the pleasure of knowing Carla for over 25 years, and from the moment we moved in next door, she made us feel like we belonged. We can still picture her warm smile and the gentle kindness she carried so naturally—it was impossible not to be drawn to her.

Carla didn’t just live on our street—she truly cared for the people on it. She took the time to get to know our families, and she always seemed genuinely excited to hear what was happening in our lives. She had a way of lifting you up with a few encouraging words, and she made everyone feel seen and welcome.

One moment that captures her generous heart for us is the morning she was up well before 6 a.m., standing outside and cheering us on (with homemade signs) as we set out on a long biking trip. It was such a simple gesture, but it meant so much—she showed up for people, and she did it with genuine joy.

We will miss Carla deeply, and it’s hard to imagine the street without her. Her spirit will stay with us, and we know we’ll keep smiling as we share “Carla stories” for years to come. 

We’re sending our love and support to Don and Marion, Pat and Brian and Laura and Bob. We know how much you meant to her, and how much she loved you all.

Carla was a lovely woman, a good friend and neighbour. During the summer, we would often chat on her porch or on my patio.

I miss Carla. Lyndhurst Place won’t be the same without her.
