Hi Donna
You are in our thoughts and prayers. Mom (Rita) and I remember Duncan from the RCR Association when he sort of took over from Dad.
To make you laugh, I call Duncan "Major Dad" from the old television show...he reminded me of one of the main characters.

Hi Donna my deepest condolences to you and your family. We go back a long time, we worked side by side in the old St Mary's, which now is called Mt Hope.
I was very honoured to have been invited to your wedding. We’ve had good times.
May God give you strength to encounter the future without Duncan.
As they say good friends are present in good and in bad times, and I’m here for you if you need me. RIP Duncan

My heartfelt condolences to Donna and the whole family. Sherry and I always counted you both as really good friends, and he will be sorely missed. He and Sherry can now tell good RCR stories while they enjoy a visit and perhaps a wee dram of scotch!

Condolences to the whole family on Duncan’s passing.
I remember Duncan growing up in Belmont. His dad, Neil was my grade 7/8 teacher. I hated my name....Pamela....and Neil was the only one I enjoyed saying it with his deep voice.
I often wondered if Duncan had that voice as well. His mom and dad were friends of the family as well.
Reading all the tributes and seeing all the photos , he must have grown up to be quite a man.
RIP Duncan and sincere condolences to the family at this sad time.
Sincerely Pam Rogozynski ( Frankland)

Sitting in the sunshine of Malawi sharing a cup of coffee, imagine the mutual astonishment to learn that we we might have been distant cousins, belonging to the same clan, added to which Jan had worked at the Royal Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario. His vision and compassion closely matched ours, and we were delighted when St Lawerence decided to be co-sponsors of the elderly feeding programme at Viyele, Northen Malawi, which continues apace as they face the challenge of CV-19.
It was our privilege to have shared a few moments in his life; we send our sincere condolences from Scotland to Duncan's family and friends

I haven't known Duncan as long as some. I met him when I started at St. Lawrence Presbyterian Church where I filled a pulpit vacancy. Duncan pointed out that my sermons were not particularly Presbyterian - so he taught me what it meant to be Presbyterian. Duncan chaired the Mission and Outreach team and we became friends when I joined the team. Our team facilitated 3 mission trips to Malawi in Africa with Duncan as one of the trip leaders each time, using his skills from his time in the service to ensure that we had accommodations, ground travel arrangements, and were safe. It gave us joy to watch him teaching small children "head and shoulders, knees and toes" and putting on a white suit jacket and tie to accept honorary membership in the Men's Guild and dancing around the sanctuary with the men in celebration. Just one of many memories of an awesome man.

I first met Duncan when he was responsible for hosting The MacMillans of North America in London. I was a volunteer and I enjoyed my time working with him. Knowing that Duncan was going on the St. Lawrence Mission Trip to Malawi Africa, gave me assurance that my family would be safe. Recently, Duncan was my representative Elder at St. Lawrence Presbyterian Church. I always appreciated Duncan’s gentle and relaxed approach in all situations.

My sincere condolences to Donna and family. Duncan took me under his wing when I started volunteering at the RCR Museum. We spent many Thursdays together and I always appreciated Duncan's knowledge and sense of humour even if he insisted on calling me a cadet officer. I'll miss you. So long Duncan.

Sincere condolences to you Donna and the Family on Duncan's demise. Our paths have crossed several times in our service in the Canadian Armed Forces and I can truly say that when he was my Regimental Adjutant at Regimental Headquarters in London he served the Regiment with distinction. It was a blessing to have had him with me as his wit, humour and dedication was second to none. He will be truly missed. RIP

Dear Donna, Sylvie and I are greatly saddened to learn of Duncan's passing. We have fond memories of you both during our time in Nahariya. How you kindly looked after Laura, Hayden and Steven so that we could take a trip to Petra, the Canadian Contingent get togethers and the many laughs shared at the REC House.
With Duncan being the Team Commander of OP Mar and me as Team Commander of OP Khiam, we saw each other often while on duty in Lebanon and shared the bond that soldiers serving in dangerous places do. He was a fine gentleman and soldier - a really good man.

Duncan was a volunteer at the Royal Canadian Regiment Museum museum for many years. His extensive knowledge of the Regiment, with his personal experience as a serving member and Regimental Adjutant, was a great asset for our programs and he always shared his memories with enthusiasm. Students and general public alike always appreciated a guided tour with Duncan. This image was taken in 2014, during one of the remembrance programs for students. The museum staff wishes to extend our condolences to the family, he will be greatly missed.

What a sad time for us all. I was shocked when I learned of Duncan's death. Although we never served together I knew him well as our Regimental Adjutant, our great Branch President and though the RCR Museum. But mostly I remember him as a wonderful man who always had a special smile and an infectious laugh. He left us all too soon and we are all so much worse off now that he is gone. God Bless to all his family and may we all remember what joy he brought to our lives. Pro Patria and RIP Duncan.

I was thoroughly shocked and saddened to hear of Duncan's passing. Far too soon for such an outstanding individual. I remember Duncan as an Army Cadet in No 9 when I was the CO and followed his military career with interest. We occasionally would cross paths and reminisce about past experiences. He definitely excelled as a fine and dedicated officer and will be sorely missed by many friends, associates, and family members.

Most sincere condolences. My heart is so sad for your loss. I always looked up to Duncan, from the time I was a small child. One memory is of a phone call. I cannot remember the event that I had played at, but I do remember that Duncan called to compliment me on my efforts. The fact that he took the time to make the call really touched my heart. I will miss seeing him at those family events that I had the pleasure of being invited to. I pray that the memories that you hold in your heart help to bring peace to all of you.

I was shocked and sorrowed when I read of Duncan’s passing. What a great loss , Duncan was a fine gentleman and soldier, I had many occasions to work with him, He approached everything with a great big smile and a firm handshake,
When he was the Regimental Adjutant, I admired him for being so knowledgeable about the Regiment and the Military. I will always cherish the memories of working and socializing with him and Donna. Gladys and I offer our warmest thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
God Bless and Pro Patria .

Dear Donna and family, Chris and family, and Mary and family
I am posting this on behalf of my grandmother, Sister Shirley Pollock - she is currently in hospital in Cambridge, so we had a virtual visit today and I passed along the sad news of Duncan's passing.
Shirley has many happy memories of the McMillan clan - of your dad Neil, and your mom Catherine, and more recently of Duncan, when he served as the Grand Master. Shirley's brother, Benson Sutter, knew Neil well through the Odd Fellows, and Shirley knew Catherine from the Rebekahs, so there is a real connection of our families over many years. She wanted me to pass along her sincere condolences to your entire family; Duncan was truly a fine man. (From Shirley Pollock, via Dave MacLeod)

My condolences to Donna and to all of Duncan's family. I first met Duncan in the late 70s when we both served as Lieutenants with 2 RCR in New Brunswick. Our paths crossed a few times over the course of our careers and I was very happy to reconnect with Duncan when I returned to London. I will always remember him as an excellent officer who never put his career ahead of the welfare of his subordinates. I particularly recall his outstanding service as our Regimental Adjutant and as President of the local branch of The RCR Association. I could always count on Duncan to give me good advice on just about any issue and I valued our friendship. He will be greatly missed.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of this wonderful man. I served with Duncan on many projects at St. Lawrence Church. Whenever I had a project, he was the first person I called and he never said no. It could have been to work on the new kitchen or a concert for raising funds for the Malawi Mission or at meetings of the Board of Managers, we understood and respected each other. We spent happy times laughing and talking together before and after services.
He had such interesting stories of his travels around the world. I loved listening to him. Such a wealth of information and life experience, that he shared when asked. He never really spoke about how successful he was in all the different aspects of his life. He was a gentle giant of a man, considerate and kind. He will be greatly missed by me and so many others.
Donna I am so sorry for your loss and I am sending loving thoughts to you and your family. I wish we could hug people in these times. Make no mistake we will be thinking of you. If there is anything I can do to help you, ever, do not hesitate to ask.

I will always remember you as the kind uncle us kids could count on to sample all our Christmas home baking on Christmas Eve (especially the rum balls!) Even when something tasted off you only delivered accolades and appreciation. As a mother myself now I understand this type of quiet kindness—thank you.
I will always remember you as a steadfast calming influence when incendiary family situations somehow found their way to your and Aunt Donna’s doorstep. Through maturation and growth I understand the wisdom in your practice of restraint—thank you.
I will always remember you as an incredible orator who tenderly and cleverly delivered my mother’s eulogy. I laughed and cried throughout as you honoured her being on earth. There was no one else who could have done that for us. For that act of compassion — thank you.
Most of all I will always remember you as an amazing man I was lucky enough to get to call Uncle. You will be greatly missed! RIP

Dear Donna and the entire McMillan Family
We were so saddened to hear of Duncan's passing. I met Duncan in 1971, shortly after we moved back to London, and Rob rejoined No. 9 London Secondary School Cadet Corps. As an 11 year old, I was in awe of my oldest brother and his friends, and when I joined No.9 as a lowly "Herbie" in 1973 it was nice to have Duncan call me "Davy" when he talked to me.
I have happy memories of doing fire piquet on exercise when Duncan, Rob, and Jerry Jurasko returned VERY late from a going away party for a chap who was off to RRMC, and they were "happily" sneaking back in to camp. After trying my best to sound assertive: "Halt! Advance one to be recognized!", Duncan broke out in laughter and said "It's ok, it's just your little brother!", and they stumbled off to their tent to go to sleep.
Over the years our paths crossed many times, and I was always happy to see him. Duncan's mother Catherine, and my grandmother, Shirley Pollock, both received the Degree of Chivalry from the Rebekahs at the same time, and when Duncan became Grand Master IOOF, Shirley, Dad, and I attended the installation where two memorable things happened - Duncan introduced me as Davy MacLeod, and he asked me why I wasn't an Oddfellow; he would be happy to sign my application. That's how I became proud member of Exeter IOOF 67.
Cheryl and I hope that happy memories, and the love of family and friends will help sustain you during this sad time.

I know Duncan as my ACO though Det here in London. We worked together for many, many years.
Duncan was an amazing person and knew when and how to “ adjust “ the rules to allow us freedom in our training. He was a man of great wisdom, compassion and understanding. I will always remember the things he did for me and the youth I represented.
Rest well my friend... until we meet again at the great O-Group... RIP

I was saddened to receive word of Duncan’s death from Kelly. I have not known Duncan as long as many, but have through his years as our Regimental Adjutant, as President of the London & Home Station Branch of The RCR Association, and as a Volunteer and Guide at The RCR Museum. I have always known Duncan as a fine, helpful person and I will miss knowing that he is with us.

I am stunned to learn of Duncan's passing. I have known Duncan nearly forty-nine years. We served as army cadets together and remained friends through these decades.
Mom and dad also loved Duncan... but I am certain they are now catching up and sharing memories over a brew.
My sincere condolences to Donna and family.
