Cameron, Edward “Ted”
It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Edward (Ted) Ernest Cameron at Parkwood Hospital on June 14th in his 86th year.
Cherished husband of Pat for close to 63 years, loving father of Deborah (Jeff Gourlay), Edward and Patricia, and proud “Poppa” of Crystal, Cameron, Chloe and Morgan. He will be missed by his sister Betty, brothers Fred (Annie) & Franklin (Joanne), his Uncle Norman along with many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Frank & Florence, brother John and sisters Lillian (Goss) and Florence (Harvey).
He served in the RCNR for a short time before joining the RCAF from which he retired after 25 years of dedicated service as a heavy equipment operator. He must have truly enjoyed this line of work as he spent the next 20 years driving bus for the LTC. After retiring for good he kept very busy; gardening, building birdhouses, travelling, walking his dog Cole, as well as, bingo and darts at the Duchess of Kent Legion, where he was a member for 42 years. He held his private pilot’s license for many years and loved to fly. As a member of the Harvard Association in Tillsonburg he was able to hitch a ride in both a “Harvard” and a “Tiger Moth”. He also loved to sing & dance and share his one-of-a-kind sense of humour with everyone.
The family would like to thank the PCU staff for their excellent care and compassion during his stay in the unit. A very special thank you goes out to all of the neighbors who have helped and continue to help at this very difficult time.
Visitation will be held on Thursday June 19, 2014 at Needham Funeral Home (520 Dundas Street) from 2-4pm & 7-9pm where a Legion service will take place at 7 pm. Funeral Service will be on Friday June 20, 2014 at 1 pm. Interment to Pond Mills Cemetery to follow. Charitable donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Parkwood Hospital Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated.
