Elmer lived a full life. If he was not away hunting moose and deer or with his horses he could be found in his garden.
He was a passionate gardener who was a very active Master Gardener from 1986-2013. He was a lifetime member of the London Horticultural Society and several other Horticultural Societies in the London area where he served on the Board of Directors and where he was asked to speak on numerous occasions on their behalf. Elmer was also a member of the Regional Lily Society out of the Royal Botanical Gardens.
The local community was able to enjoy his passion for gardening by watching him on TV, speaking to him at various Horticultural events or by showing up at his home where he sold Lilies, Gladiolas, Cut Flowers and Garlic varieties to all visitors
Elmer also embraced his tenure as a volunteer with the Western Fair District for over 30 years serving on their Board of Directors and was a Member at Large.
He was an active Member of Standard Bred Canada, loved horse racing and the horses he owned.
Elmer retired from a very distinguished career with 3M Canada after 35 years of service and was able to spend quality time with his companion, friend and love for the last 25 years, Marilyn Kading, who now will miss him dearly.
Elmer was predeceased by his first wife Carol (nee Cowper, 1964), his second wife Elaine (nee Campbell, 1982) and his eldest sister, Iris. Being the seventh born of eleven children he will always be remembered by Lil, Ed, Herdis, Marg, Eigil, Eldon, David, Sven and Winston.
