John "Jack" Watterson Meharg

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of John Watterson Meharg of London on May 10, 2012 at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Gloria (nee Wheat) for 55 years. Loving father of John (Helen) of Halifax, Dan (Vickie) of Quebec, Lynn (Jim) Ryz of Winnipeg and Chris (Liz) of Edmonton. Proud grandpa of eight. Dear brother of Bob (Pearl), Len (Fran), Maureen Muir and brother-in-law of Fred (Bernice) Miles. Predeceased by his parents Roy and Sarah (nee Barton), brother Norman and sisters Sadie, Edna and Janet. John served in the Korean War and was a member of the Ear Falls Legion. He was a retired member of the Ironworkers Association, Local 700 and an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt, camp and also enjoyed playing poker. John was a loving husband and father and will be remembered for his great sense of humour and joke telling abilities. The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses of CCTU, Victoria Hospital for their care and support. Visitation will be held at Needham Funeral Service (520 Dundas St., London) on Friday from 6-8pm where the Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 10:00am. Interment Mount Pleasant Cemetery to follow. In memory of John, donations may be made to the CCTU, Victoria Hospital.
