Our beloved matriarch passed away surrounded by her family. 100 years on earth! A life well lived and well loved. Dedicated mother of Michael, Mary (Pat), Elaine (Gary), Anne (Mike), John (Holly). Adored grandmother of Andrew/Sean, Leigh/Andrea/Mark, Douglas/Justin, Jackie, Connor/Sarah. Favourite great grandmother of Jack. Predeceased by her husband Douglas and sisters Theresa and Marguerite. Loved dearly by her surviving sisters Lorraine and Anne.
Regina was the eldest of five girls, born in Saskatchewan on a farm. Their father, Omer Menard, was an original settler of the Prairies. She lived through the Great Depression, The 10 Lost Years and countless other hardships that never dulled her spirit. She always loved the big sky, open spaces and water. She married and raised her family in Toronto, ON, where she became an extended mom to many of our friends. Oftentimes friends would show up around dinnertime, and mom welcomed everyone as family. We sometimes had to “peel another potato”, but there was always enough food.
Mom had a way of making everyone feel they were so loved, so special and the most important person in the world. She supported all of us through her unconditional giving and caring. The sadness of our loss will gradually be replaced by the wonderful memories we hold.
Mom ended her life’s journey at Extendicare in London, ON where she received exceptional care and compassion, allowing her to pass with dignity and respect.
Cremation has taken place. Regina will be interred with her husband at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Thornhill, ON.
