
Anne Lao, also known as Hourn Bouy Lao, was born on October 9, 1953, in Takeo, Cambodia. And resettled in San Diego, CA, in 1982, and lived in the City of Los Angeles for 21 years before moving and residing in El Monte, CA, for 23 years.
Her positive life force was rippling. She survived the war and genocide in Cambodia and overcame unimaginable adversities, but she always chose joy, laughter, kindness, generosity, and love in the face of tragedies and challenges.
She dedicated her life to raising her 4 children and building a community not only for survival, but to connect, heal, and thrive. She was the needle that threaded through so many circles of our community, weaving us together. She was a reminder that you can overcome anything with a smile and a positive outlook on life. Everyone who has met or known Anne remembers her for kindness, warmth, and generosity. She was an inspiration, reminding you to overcome adversities with a smile and a positive outlook on life. Even with her radiant, powerful energy and strength, they were no match for cancer. After two courageous years of fighting colon cancer, she succumbed to all its awful and painful body destruction on Friday, May 8, at 3:41 a.m., at the age of 72.
She was completely loved and will be dearly missed. May she rest fully in tranquility and peace. Anne is survived by her husband, Paul (Eang) Ngouy, her four children- Sheldon Ngouy, Seng Ngouy, Suely Saro, and Danny Ngouy, 5 grandchildren- Tyler Ngouy, Chloe Ngouy, Aria Ngouy, Dejariddhi Sovijaya, and Sukhodaya Sovijaya, and 4 siblings- Koheang Lao, Leng Lao, Lynn Lao, and John Lao.
