

Anthony Patrick (Tony) Day, 28, passed away unexpectedly on September 17, 2012 due to complications of Type 1 diabetes. Tony was born in Long Beach and lived his entire life in Cerritos. He is survived by his parents, Howard and Patrice Day, his grandfather, Howard LaVoy, his brothers, Christopher and Jonathan, his uncle Gary, aunt Wendy & aunt Julie Brame, uncle Ron and aunt Kai Day, and many cousins.
Tony was always interested in a varitety of activities. He participated in various sports including soccer, baseball, basketball, karate and fencing. He was involved in Indian Guides and Cub Scouts. He attended Mary Bragg Elementary School where he was in the GATE program. He attended Gahr High School and acted in many dramatic productions (including two productions when he was in elementary school). He participated in Speech and Debate as well as the Mock United Nations.
After graduation, Tony attended Cerritos College and participated in their automotive technology program. He recently passed his tests and received his ASE technology certification. While attending college, Tony worked full time at Equus Industries.
Tony's organs were donated to local people in need through One Legacy. A flag will fly at Long Beach Community Hospital for 8 days in honor of his donation.
Tony lived with juvenile diabetes since age 7 and his family and he participated in many classes and activities geared for youngsters with diabetes through the PADRE foundation. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Tony's name to PADRE (Pediatric Adolescent Diabetic Research Education) www.padrefoundation.org
