We remember Brian, a gentle giant, a giving soul, a loving son, father, brother, and friend to many. His love for his family and friends was evident in every aspect of his life. Born in San Antonio, Texas, on December 1st, 1973, Brian was the beloved son of Lucille McCarty Wooten, loving younger brother of Charles, Jr., Carmen Allen, and Edward Wooten.
Brian was a man of many talents. He attended John Jay High School in San Antonio, Texas, where he excelled in athletics. His height and skill became evident when he became a starting forward/center for the Varsity basketball team. But his talents didn't stop there. Brian was also a gifted artist, becoming popular throughout the school community for his ability to paint anything on anyone's clothes using textile paint, which he did for free. And then there was his love for music, a significant part of his life that he shared with those around him. His versatility and talent not only left a lasting impact on those who knew him but also on the wider community, where his art and music brought joy and inspiration.
Music was more than just a hobby for Brian; it was a significant part of his life. His older sister Carmen fondly recalls how a song was always the best way to soothe her brother, a sentiment that remained true throughout his life. She would sing “Little Lealer” to keep Brian calm as she washed his hair, a memory that stayed with him. Despite his towering height, 6’9, he was still his big sister’s Little Lealer. His love for music was also evident in his relationship with his daughter, Makayla. Like his love for music, Brian’s heart and kindness for those he loved and cared for were just as big and extensive.
In 2005, Brian and his late wife Carmen received one of the best gifts they could have ever received: their daughter Makayla Wooten was Born. Following his wife's passing, Brian's role as a father became even more pronounced. He dedicated most of his time to raising his daughter, ensuring she had everything she needed, and being a strong and loving role model in her life. His love and commitment to Makayla were unwavering, a testament to his character and the depth of his love.
Brian was a long-standing member of the Long Beach City PRCM. His passions were art, music, friends, and, most of all, family. Brian's memory and good soul will continue through his daughter, Makayla Wooten, his brother, Charles Wooten Jr., His Sister, Carmen Allen, and his brother, Edward Wooten.
