Calvin Coolidge Cole, like his name sake, was a man of few words whose life spoke volumes, through his faithfulness, generosity and Christian example. A resident of Lakewood, CA since 1966, Cal grew up in Jewell, Iowa, where he attended his high school reunion last year and saw his 1938 confirmation photo still displayed in the Lutheran Church! During WWII, Cal was stationed at Camp Haan and secured a front row seat at the USO Miss California pageant. He winked at the first contestant, nudged his army buddy and whispered "I'm gonna marry that girl!" Miss Los Angeles "Larry Mac" (Lorraine McAfee) became queen of Old King Cole's castle for nearly 66 years. They raised their family in Southern CA, drove through all 48 continental states and vacationed in Europe and Israel. Cal attended BIOLA University, remained active in his church and charitable work, and was a painting contractor most of his life. He is survived by his 3 children, Steven John Cole, Becky Sue Eisemann and Thomas Alan Cole; 9 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. He passed quietly at home, was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Memorial Service to be held at 1BL on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 1pm (family graveside at VETS Riverside Cemetery 10-27-14).
