After a three-year battle with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, Curt, 46, wonderful husband, father and son passed away peacefully on November 23 with his loving family by his side. Curt leaves behind his wife, Cindy, and his children, Clarissa (19), Cayden (17) and Corbin (13), his mother, Barbara, siblings, Gregory, Beverly, Michael and William, father-in-law Jim Shockey, mother-in-law Celia, brother-in-law, Darren, many nieces and nephews and hundreds of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald.
Curt was born in Torrance, California, where he grew up and graduated from West High School in 1984. After high school, he worked for American City Pest & Termite for the next 25 years. His time there ended when he became ill.
Curt and Cindy were high school sweethearts who married in June of 1988. Their love and devotion to each other and their three children were apparent to all that knew them. As a family, they enjoyed dirt bike riding in the desert as well as wakeboarding and boating at Lake Nacimiento and hanging out with their many friends.
Curt accepted his terminal diagnosis with dignity and grace. He was known for his winning smile and positive attitude, which elevated the spirits of his family. He was an inspiration to everyone who knew and loved him. His memory will live on in our hearts forever!
