Esperanza "Hopie" Perez

February 14, 1919 – October 24, 2014

Esperanza “Hopie” Perez, 95, of La Palma, formerly Long Beach, CA, died peacefully in her sleep on October 24, 2014 at Anaheim Terrance Care Center. Born February 14, 1919 she is predeceased by her parents, Reyez and Felisitas Marquez, her late husband of 38 years, Juan Ruiz Perez (1975), her sons Juan “Chacho” (2012) and baby Manuel Edward (1943), and her grandson John “Tony” Perez (2008).

Hopie is survived by her daughter Maria Elena “Chacha” Anderson, daughter-in-law Patricia Kay Perez, and siblings Alice Hernandez, Margaret “Maggie” Aguirre and Richard “Richie” Marquez. In addition to Tony, Hopie’s loved her grandchildren: Jeff Perez (Vicki), Darryl Powers (Cathy), Gary Powers and Renee Clements (Jonathan), her great-grandchildren: Lauren Perez (Casey Gille), Jessica Brown (Mike), Heather Powers, Kyle Perez, Brittany Perez, Dakota “Cody” Perez, Bailey Clements and her great-great grandchildren Kaylee Ann Gille and Ellie Hope Gille.

Hopie worked as a recovery nurse for oral surgeons in Long Beach for over 30 years. She loved sweets, camping in Rosarito Beach, Mexico with family, babysitting and spending time with her grandchildren, gardening and dogs, especially her beloved Toy and Ginger. She had strong faith and loved the Lord. She was grateful that He was so good to her.

She will be greatly missed and was loved by all.
