Jerelene Rosetta Prince was born on December 23, 1940, in Los Angeles, California, to Lenora Jackson, and was blessed to be raised by her parents, Marylou and Wesley D. Owens. As a child, she was a dedicated member of Christ Second Baptist Church in Long Beach, California.
Jerelene received her formal education within the Long Beach Unified School District, attending Lincoln Elementary and Franklin Junior High before graduating from Long Beach Poly High School. She later married John Prince Jr., and to this union, two sons were born: John Wesley Prince and Joseph Wayne Prince. She raised her family with love in Long Beach.
Jerelene had a passion for life and enjoyed listening to music, dancing, playing cards, and shopping. She was a long-time employee at Cal State Long Beach, where she eventually retired after many years of service.
One of ten siblings, Jerelene was preceded in death by her sisters Doreatha, Lucille, Majorie, Florence, and Barbara Jean, as well as her brothers Wesley Jr. and Jonas.
She leaves to mourn her two sons, John Wesley Prince and Joseph Wayne Prince; her two brothers, Luis Owens and Utilus Jackson; and her granddaughters, Monique Prince, M. Trivese Prince, Triana Prince, Whitney Prince, Queen King (Prince), Brandy Prince, and Bianca. She also leaves behind a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Michelle Adams (Lynn) for all of the support provided to our mother.
