

John Joseph Buksa III passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on October 22, 2010, at the age of 57. John battled melanoma cancer for 2 ½ years. He is survived by his wife of 36 ½ years, Linda Buksa. They raised 2 children, Jamie Lynn Buksa and John Joseph Buksa IV. He has 2 grandsons, John Joseph Buksa V and Jake Michael Buksa. He has a sister, Linda Jorgenson (Tom), brothers, Fred Buksa (Mary), Tom Buksa (Melody). He also has many nieces and nephews that he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Joseph Buksa, Jr. and Dorothy V. Buksa and sister, Rosemary DiCarlo (Tony). He graduated from Pius X High School in Downey and Cal State Long Beach with a health science degree. John worked for Lucky’s/Albertson’s for 26 years and retired in 2005. John was a coach to many local kids at Lakewood, Millikan and St. Paul high schools, coaching girl’s softball. In his early days, he coached football, basketball and even volley tennis for Lakewood parks. He holds the Mayor’s Award for endless hours of volunteer time. Services will be at St. Pancratius Church, 3519 Pancratius Place, Lakewood on Friday, October 29, 2010 at 10:30 am.
