Joyce was born in Argyle, Minnesota - number nine of twelve children - to Simon Beaudry and Bernadette Beaudry. She grew up on a farm where she loved to ride Jesse the horse, play hide and seek, and play anty-i-over with the other children. She lost her mother in childbirth when she was only eight years old. She was taught early in life to be a good Christian, pray often and to try to get along with people and family.
She met her husband Don when she was only 16 years old. They were married two years later and were married for over 65 years. They moved to California in 1951 where she lived the remainder of her life. Her first daughter Sharon was born in 1950 and then in 1953 her second daughter Pam was born.
She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and caring for her friends and family. She loved people and people loved her.
She is survived by her husband Don Maxwell, daughter Pam Johnson and her husband Ken Johnson, granddaughter Crystal Johnson, and great granddaughter Creedence Johnson. She is also survived by her brother Roland Beaudry, sister Gloria Hanevold, and sister Bernadette McCarthy .
She was preceded in death by her mother Bernadette Beaudry, father Simon Beaudry, daughter Sharon Maxwell, brothers Dan Beaudry, Paul Beaudry, Omer Beaudry, Donald Beaudry, Lloyd Beaudry, sisters Rose Fournier , Nora Cardinal, and Doris Skoczylas.
