Lina Chau was born in Cambodia on 9 May 1963 to mother, Kong Bun In, and father, Oeng Sophat. In her twenties, amid escalating tensions in Southeast Asia, Lina immigrated to the United States and created a life for herself in America. She is survived by three children: two sons, David and Danny, and a daughter, Laura.
Highly energetic with a technicolor personality, Lina lit up and enlivened any room she entered. She wore the brightest outfits and often times told the corniest jokes. Her children’s fondest memories of her is of tender moments at home where she’d dance goofily and sing off tune to Cyndi Lauper and Madonna songs; her hobbies genuinely complimented her personality, as she enjoyed to dance, nurture her pretty garden, and make her loved ones laugh.
Above all, Lina had a beautiful and compassionate soul. There was no limit to the sacrifices she made in order to provide for her family and friends. Despite the struggles Lina faced in her early years and as a single mother, she successfully raised three beautifully humble, generous children to become morally high and productive characters of society. Lina generously donated to charities that provided essentials for young children, so as to ensure that they grew up less in-need than she during her rough childhood.
Lina’s life was a life in which she always persevered with a smile. May her passing bring her the eternal and peaceful rest she most certainly, crucially and critically deserves. We will forever love and cherish Lina; we will hold fast to our memories of her and wish for eternal peace for Lina and all who were blessed to know her sweet soul.
