Lu Ann Smith

LuAnn passed away on May 12,2014 at the age of 60. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Howard and Billie Smith. LuAnn was raised in Urbandale, Iowa and graduated from Urbandale High in 1971. She went off to college at Buena Vista in Storm Lake, Iowa and graduated with a bachelors degree in education. She later earned her masters degree in special education.

LuAnn moved to Long Beach, CA. in 1981 and taught elementary special education for the last 30 years. LuAnn loved teaching and her students met the world to her as she did to them. She also enjoyed traveling,reading,taking long walks and spending time with her family and friends. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

LuAnn was preceded in death by her mother Billie. LuAnn a devoted and loving mother is survived by her son Joseph (Long Beach) father Howard (Urbandale,IA), brother Steve (Bellingham,WA), and sisters Pam (Omaha,NE), and Becky (Scottsdale,AZ), 5 nieces and 5 great nieces.

Services will be held at Luyben Family Dilday-Mottell Mortuary, 5161 E.Arbor Rd., Long Beach, CA. 90808 on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 10 am.
