

Lupe (Guadalupe) Angel Castillo October 1, 1915 - March 13, 2012. Lupe was a resident of Long Beach for 90 years. Lupe passed away peacefully at his home in Long Beach on Tuesday night. Lupe was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico in the village of El Rincon and raised in Long Beach. He graduated from Poly High School. Lupe was also a World War II Army Veteran serving as medic, along with five of his other brothers who served during World War II. Lupe was well liked as a congenial and friendly electrician working for the City of Long Beach Electrical department.
Lupe was second oldest of 10 children born to the late Porfirio and Gavina Castillo. He was the beloved husband of Nellie Castillo for over 62 years. Lupe will forever be remembered by his beloved daughters Olivia Pohl, Anita Pierce, Lydia Barish, and Lisa Worley, his caring and devoted son in-laws Jerry Pohl, Mike Pierce, Harvey Barish and Steve Worley, by his treasured grandchildren Lori Pohl, Jeff Pohl, Amy Jordan, Kevin Pierce, Mark Barish, Jessica Barish, Jenny Barish, and Jodi Bogomilsky, Luke Worley, Jake Worley, and Cody Worley, all the great grandchildren, and his devoted brothers Bob and Joe Castillo, loving sisters Mary Castillo and Socorro Valencia along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know him.
Lupe loved his LA Dodgers, fishing in Cabo San Lucas and enjoyed listening to Mexican and classical music each day, eating his favorite Mexican food dishes, joking, laughing, having fun with friends and telling everyone his wonderful stories growing up in Long Beach and most of all being with his family.
Lupe touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor and sharp wit all the way to the end.
Friends and family are invited to attend memorial services. A viewing will begin at 1:00 p.m. followed by a rosary memorial service at 3:00p.m. this Sunday, March 18th. Services will be held at Luyben Dilday-Mottell Family Mortuary located at 5161 Arbor Road in Long Beach. A memorial mass will be held at St. Barnabas Catholic Church located at 3955 Orange Street in Long Beach on Monday, March 19th, at 12 noon.
In lieu of flowers the family requests all donations be sent to St Jude Children’s Hospital.
