Rhea Diane Cavitt was born on June 5, 1952, in Los Angeles, California, to Mary Jane Maston, age 26, and Howard E Cavitt, age 26 (both preceded her in death). Rhea was the third child out of seven children; Gregory Casey, Stephanie Casey (preceded in death), Cynthia Cavitt, Fawnda Cavitt-Sparks, Cathy Cavitt (preceded in death), and Kevin Cavitt. Rhea gave her life to CHRIST at Love, Peace and Happiness in Los Angeles, California and made sure her family knew Christ and attended church as well.
She attended 111th Street Elementary, Gompers Junior High, then graduated in 1970 from Fremont High School in Los Angeles, CA. In 1993, she attended Compton Community College where she completed and received her Associate of Arts Degree in Child Development.
Rhea worked at Kmart and the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services,on Tamarind in Compton, CA. Rhea was very family oriented, so at the age of 21, she left the workforce for a while to start her family. She gave birth to 3-Nurtured 5-Raised 8 and absorbed countless numbers of others in the community. She was respected by everyone in the neighborhood and continued to shower all those she encountered with love equally. She went back to work in 1994, as a Cafeteria Worker for the Compton Unified School District. In 1998, she left the district and began working as a Preschool Teacher for the City of Long Beach Parks and Recreation Afterschool Program at Silverado Park, until she retired in 2006.
She leaves to celebrate her legacy, five children: Gawan Roberson, Sheawana Armstrong, Lawngenikka Louis, Longeno Louis and Brien Cavitt; two daughters-in-law: Ka-Trena Roberson and Robin Clark; Nine grandchildren: Jasmine Trepagnier, Aleczasia Roberson, Nakayla Roberson, Gawan Roberson Jr., Braylin Roberson, Brien Cavitt Jr., Longeno Louis III, Lariyah Louis and Adonis Cavitt; and a host of nieces and nephews.
