Rosalie (Rose) Helen Kreeger was born on April 25, 1925 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1945 Rose and her family moved to California where she ended up marrying the love of her life, Tommy. After WWII they settled in Santa Monica and shortly after that they moved to Lakewood where they were blessed with their three daughters. As a teenager, family and friends used to say that she would never grow old with her big blue eyes and her happy, friendly ways. Rosie, or “lollipop”, as her family nicknamed her, was always young at heart. Even at the age of 87 she was never afraid to have fun or act silly. Rosalie loved to dance. She joined the USO in Santa Monica where she would dance the night away and was the “Belle of the Ball.” She never lacked for a dance partner as she had many fellows who wanted to date her, but her heart only belonged to her Navy soldier,
Tommy. Rose felt as if she lucked out by finding this man who thoroughly enjoyed filling her world with the simple things in life such as Sunday family drives to random destinations, friday night drive-in theater trips and making sure she was always taken care of. Due to Tommy spoiling his gal, she did not obtain her driver’s license until she was 50 years old and BOY, did this open up a whole new world for her as she was always on the go, driving all over the town. Bingo was her all time favorite. She was the Bingo Queen and known at many local bingo halls as the “Lady in Pink.” When her daughter’s would call her house looking for her, their father Tommy would answer and say, “Nope, she’s not here, where do you think she is????” He didn’t have to utter another word, as they knew exactly where she was – BINGO!! Her other joys in life were vacationing in Laughlin, family trips to the mountains, Charlie perfume, the color “pink,” costume jewelry, reading novels and going to the movies.
Of all the things she loved, her main passion was her family who meant the world to her! Her three daughters, Francine, Debra and Judi as well as her son-in-laws, Kenny and Woody, will miss her immensely. Her grandchildren Deanna, Dustin, Eric (Alicia), Garrett (Mema), James, Jessika & Jann who referred to her as Grammie or Grandma, will miss her sweetness, silliness and laughter. She was also known as "Gigi" to her greatgrandchildren Ethan, Dillon, Delaney, Gavin, Jason, Brenna and Luc. They will miss her smile, her meaningful words and how much she cared for them and the smell and warmth you would get when you hugged her. Rosalie is also survived by her sister, Margaret Speakman, her two nephews, Paul & Richard Speakman and niece, Beth Speakman
