Samuel Lopez Class was born November 16, 1929 and passed away June 18, 2019. He attended high school in Puerto Rico and attended Cypress College in California. Samuel was a veteran of the Korean War, having served as a corporal in the United States Army. He was also an acclaimed boxer in the United States Army. A painter for over 40 years, he obtained a contractor’s license and started his own painting company. After retiring from painting, he was an usher at the Anaheim Convention Center and at Angels’ Stadium. This was his dream job! He was able to watch every home Angels’ baseball games. He eventually became known as the “dancing user,” as he could be seen dancing wherever he was at the stadium, every time a good song came on.
Samuel and his wife, Rafaela, were married for over 68 years and had three children. He attended Saint Irenaeus Catholic Church and was a strong and faithful Catholic throughout his life. He was a member of the Elks Club in Cypress, CA and a life member of The International Brotherhood of Painters and Allie Trades. His hobbies included coaching little league baseball, watching boxing, watching baseball games as an avid Angels’ fan. He also loved the ocean, dancing, travelling to Mexico and Puerto Rico as well as camping.
Samuel was known for always and constantly smiling as well as his fun nature and outlook on life. He loved helping others and was loyal, truthful and honest. Everyone he encountered knew him for his positive and supportive nature.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Rafaela Class (Cypress, California); his children: Ramon Class (Amarillo, Texas), Samuel Class, Jr. (Running Springs, California), Rafaela Mercado (Anaheim, California); his grandchildren: Michelle Class (Amarillo, Texas), Ramon Class II (Amarillo, Texas), Lita Mercado (Costa Mesa, California), Pete Mercado (Foothill Ranch, California), Staci Rasband (Waco, Texas), Monica Marcial (Anaheim, California), Samuel Class (Cypress, California), Sonya Tinklenberg (Amarillo, Texas), Aundrea Class (Amarillo, Texas), Jeffrey Whitehouse (Madison, Wisconsin), Kenneth Voss (Moreno Valley, California), Randall Whitehouse (Fontana, California); his great and great-great grandchildren: Destini (Amarillo, Texas), Zachary (Amarillo, Texas), Jayden (Amarillo, Texas), Maleah (Amarillo, Texas), Zayden (Amarillo, Texas), Klair (Amarillo, Texas), Dallas (Amarillo, Texas), Sutton (Amarillo, Texas), Illana (Amarillo, Texas), Benjamin (Waco, Texas), Gabriela (Waco, Texas), Nathan (Waco, Texas), Spencer (Waco, Texas) Raena (Costa Mesa, California), Anthony (Foothill Ranch, California), Amelia (Temecula, California), Pete, Jr. (Foothill Ranch, California), Evangeline (Foothill Ranch, California), Matthew (Madison, Wisconsin), Carolyn (Fontana, California), Vincent (Moreno Valley, California), Jacob (Moreno Valley, California), Johnathan (Moreno Valley, California).
