Steve Chrysler, 54, was called home to the Lord peacefully in his sleep on April 28, 2013 while doing what he loved to do-weekend camping in the desert with friends. Steve was born in Santa Monica, California on January 16, 1959 to Gene and Betty (Schmitz) Chrysler. After attending school, Steve spent time in the construction industry as a bricklayer, and later worked for the City of Inglewood as a driver and mechanic. Recently, Steve became an ICC certified Structural Masonry Special Inspector. Most important to Steve was caring for his mother ever since his father passed away.
Steve was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an active member and Usher at St. Barnabas Parish. Steve enjoyed cooking, the outdoors, camping and beer. He was well known for his culinary skills which he used at the St. Barnabas Lenten Fish Fry. He liked trying out new recipes and was proficient at coupon collecting and finding great bargains.
You could often find Steve in his “Man Cave”, beer in hand watching cooking programs, Fox News or the History Channel.
Steve was a good neighbor always willing to help – putting away neighbor’s trash barrels, putting newspapers on their porches, helping a neighbor who had fallen or just offering a hand if needed.
Predeceased by his father, Gene, in 1981 and brother, Robert, in 2009, Steve is survived by his mother, Betty; sisters Peggy (Karavanich), Joan (Beckman) and brothers, John and Tim. Steve also has many nephews, nieces, cousins that will all miss him very much.
