Thongleang Thaopaset

Thongleang (Lean) Thaopaset was born on May 3, 1974 to Bonthean and Thongbey Thaopaset in the Village of Kaub Thom, in the city of Sereysophorn, in the Battambong Province of Cambodia. In 1975, when Lean was 15 months, for their safety, the family fled Cambodia to escape the Khmer Rouge. They relocated to a Thai Refugee Camp until June 18, 1979, when they settled in Hacienda Heights, CA and then moved to Long Beach where he went to school. After graduating, he held various jobs working as an air traffic controller, at Office Depot, and then found his dream job at the Post Office. With 25 years of commitment and hard work under his belt, he looked forward to retiring soon to spend time with family and friends and enjoy the hobbies he mastered such as fishing, gardening, basketball, soccer, and more recently corn hole. Sadly, on July 7, 2022, at the age of 48, after bravely battling liver cancer, Lean passed away. He was a beloved son, big brother, uncle, cousin, and everyone’s friend. He was a true and genuine class act and we will miss him with all our hearts. He leaves to cherish his memory his parents, siblings, nephews, niece, and extended family and friends.

A visitation for Thongleang will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Stricklin/Snively, 1952 Long Beach Blvd., Long Beach, CA 90806. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, 1952 Long Beach Blvd., Long Beach, CA 90806. A witness cremation will occur Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Long Beach Crematory, 1952 Long Beach Blvd., Long Beach, CA 90806.
