Virginia Irvin-Gordon age 78 resided in Long Beach California. She passed away on Saturday February 16, 2019. She was born in Tuskegee, Alabama on April 22, 1940 to the late Woodrow George and Eugenia George.
Virginia attended high school in Alabama. She moved to Los Angeles County in 1959 where she attended college and got her degree in education. Virginia found her passion working with special needs children. She was a dedicated and caring teacher who loved her students. After several decades of service, Virginia retired from Fairview Developmental Center.
Upon retiring Virginia gave her time volunteering with the local fire department and was an active member of several churches. Virginia loved shopping and dressing flamboyantly. She especially enjoyed sharing laughs with close friends, family and making memories with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her son Melvin Murphy Jr, husband William B. Gordon, brother Woodrow George Jr, and sister Erma Jean Thomas.
She is survived by son Adrian Murphy. Siblings, Mafalda Evans, Yvonne Davis, Marie Langston, Melvin George, Cindy George, and Terry George. Grandchildren Darnell, Melvin, Reece, Adrian-Pierre, Daniel, Adriela, and Janet. Great Grandchildren Darnell Jr, Damarion, Damani, Lahila, Jaiden, Mia, Audrina, Arianna, Adrian-Zayne, and a host of nieces and nephews.
