He was the second child and only son of Naomi Roker Ferguson and Wilfred Ferguson.
Leroy was educated in NYC public schools. He attended P.S. 64, Junior High School 60 and Charles Evan Hughes H.S. After H.S. Leroy (often referred to as Roy) became an EMT for the city of New York. While working as an EMT, Roy went to trade school and obtained his electrician license. It gave him great pleasure to help family and friends with electrical problems. After a few years of exemplary service as an EMT Roy went to work as a NYC Sanitation worker, from where he retired after thirty years.
During this period Leroy met the love of his life Elizabeth Wilson. They were a devoted couple for four years and a loving married couple for 22 years. Leroy was baptized into the Catholic faith on March 29, 1996 at Most Holy Redeemer Church in New York and later joined Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church when he relocated to Middletown, N.Y. Leroy had a deep abiding faith which was not only expressed by words but with involvement and action as the following will show. Leroy was a religious instructor leader who tutored children and pre-teens for their sacraments. He was also a Eucharistic Minister who went to hospitals and senior homes to administer communion to the elderly and sick. During the past few years he has been a family counselor for Trinita Summer Family Life Program and also a volunteer with Missionary Cenacle Apostolate working with youth and others. Along with being a member of the Knights of Columbus, Roy was an integral part of many other organizations whose mission it was to help those less fortunate. Roy never missed a day in thanking the Lord for giving him the opportunity to help and serve those who needed help. Leroy leaves behind to cherish and celebrate his memory his loving and devoted wife, Elizabeth, his sisters, Remilda AKA Millie and Sandra, his children Chris, Stanley(Julissa), Saundra(Will), Michael(Bernice), Max(Erika), grandchildren Justin, Madison, Jaden, Jordyn, Milliana and Max, and his great grandchildren Jewel and Jade, and aunts Arlee Ferguson, Mary Ann Robertson, and his uncle Joe McFarland. His God daughters Dakota, Nelliz, his adopted nieces Jennet, and Amy Ballard and adopted nephew Jonathan Ballard and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
