Gail was born May 4, 1943, in Oberlin, Kansas. She moved to Colorado as a child and graduated from Longmont High School in 1961. She married Darrell P. “Mike” Felton on March 17th, 1963 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Longmont. Gail is survived by her daughters, Michelle Felton, Kelly (Jim) Tienken, and Christy (Kevin Ryan) Felton: her grandchildren, Carly (Sean) Riley; Emily, Hannah, Ross, and Zane Tienken; Max Ryan; and great grandchildren Abigail, Elliott, and Darrell Riley. She is also survived by her sister Glee Morris, sister-in-law Bonnie Foley, brother-in-law Larry Felton, and Sharon, Shirley, Stephen, Scott and the rest of the Peterson Family.
Gail was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brother Gordon Foley and granddaughter Lily.
During Gail’s childhood in rural Kansas, her playmates were her siblings and her cousins Garrah and Eldon Smith. In Colorado as a young girl, she participated in spelling bees and excelled at her roller-skating competitions. She met her best friend and future husband Mike while waiting tables at the bowling alley. They were inseparable from that moment on. Gail spent most of her life working hard beside her husband at their various businesses including car dealerships, a junkyard and a motel. Gail’s gift was taking Mike’s projects and turning them into successful business ventures. She was the bookkeeper, the motel manager/housekeeper and part time tow truck driver.
Gail enjoyed family skate nights, Labor Day family reunions, volunteering, bible study retreats, spending time at their winter Texan home and traveling to more dirt track car races than can be counted. She loved spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren.
We will always remember Gail with a cup of coffee and we will miss her legendary green chili.
