

Services for Master Sgt. A.J. Nisbet will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, August, 24, 2010, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Longview, with Bro. Yankton Hatton officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. At the age of 80, Master Sgt. A.J. Nisbet was called home by the Lord and his loving wife of 50 years, Delores, on August 21, 2010.
A.J. was born September 26, 1929, in Lindale, Texas, to VC and Lillie Pearl Nisbet, where he lived until he joined the United States Air Force. He met the love of his life, Delores Ann Davis, while on leave and traveling through Longview. They were married May 27, 1958. A.J. served in the USAF during World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam, where he received many medals and commendations. He retired as Master Sgt. Nisbet after more than 21 years of military service.
After his retirement, he and Delores settled in Longview to raise their family, and he worked for Strohs Container for many years. A.J. was well known for his impeccable integrity, honesty, devotion and love for his family, friends and fellow veterans. He is best remembered for his passion of the great outdoors, being an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener, as well as an avid bowler, where he received many awards. He also had a soft spot in his heart for his cats.
He was a life member of the VFW Post 4002, where he served as post quarter master from 1981-82. A.J. was also a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge, National Rifle Association, Air Force Sergeant Association, Texas State Rifle Association and the East Texas Rifle and Pistol Club.
A.J. is survived by his daughters, Andree Baker and her fiance, J.R. Strawn, and Belinda McFadin and son-in-law, Don McFadin.; sister, Joan and husband, Jerry Murphy; sister, Jean and husband, Lloyd Mallory.; sister-in-law, Pat and husband, Wes Weston; brother-in-law, Allen Wayne and wife, Betty Davis; sister-in-law, Shirley Davis; grandchildren, Holly Johnston and husband, Jered, Morgan Mauldin and Rob Bradley, Keith Nelson Jr., Lauren and fiance, BJ Lancaster, John Cal Baker, Amanda McFadin and Dillon McFadin; great-grandchildren, Parker Johnston, McKayla Flemmings, Ainsley Johnston and Kairi Lancaster; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents, Lillie Pearl and Vernon Nisbet; in-laws, EG and Ida Odell Davis; sister, Virginia Lee; brother-in-law, Pete Davis; sister-in-law, Edrie Dale Ledbetter; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Davis.
The family would like to thank Care Team/Home Hospice nurses Sue, Mindy and Ann, Bro. Yankton and aide Veronica for the professional, compassionate care you have provided for our family. Also, Tracie Odom for your kind and warm-hearted affection that you have showed in our time of need. And again, may God add many more jewels to your crown.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today, August 23, 2010, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Longview.
