

Alton Morris Key was born May 20, 1939, in Marshall, Texas, to Roby & Luella Key. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on December 4, 2021. Al, as he was known to his family and friends, was a joyful, fun-loving person who loved and adored his wife, family and friends with all his heart. After graduating from high school, he served his country proudly in the US Air Force for 4 years. He was a graduate of Texas Tech University and East Texas State University, where he earned a Master’s Degree. He taught school in the Marshall School District for 18 years. He then went on to finish his career at WITCO Chemical Company. Al loved God and he loved music and served as the Choir Director at First Presbyterian Church in Marshall for 27 years. He was also a member of the local Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star and the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Al spent the last 34 years with his best friend and sweetheart, Bonnie, his “Lassie.” They shared the good times and the tough times together, always clinging to each other and to the Lord.
Al was preceded in death by his father, Roby Key, his mother, Luella Key, and his brothers Ray Key and Dale Key. He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie McKinney-Key, son Shannon Key, wife Ashley, son Scott Key, wife Tina, son Shelby Key, daughter Sharon McClelland, husband Michael, son Shaun Key, wife Ashly, step-sons Derron McKinney, Brendan McKinney, Brett McKinney and step-daughter Eve Ansley, husband Gary, 21 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, as well as countless family members, friends and loved ones.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Lakeview Funeral Home, 5000 West Harrison Road, Longview, Texas 75604. A funeral service will occur Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Lakeview Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Marshall, Texas.
Alton will be laid to rest in White Oak Cemetery, 121 E Bingham Rd, White Oak, TX 75693.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lakeview Funeral Home.
