Barbara Jene Israel Gooch

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home for Barbara Jene Gooch who went home to be with Jesus on July 17, 2010. She was born in Asheville, North Carolina on May 27, 1933. She was 77 years old and was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Gooch.

She is survived by eight children, Shirley Ward of Pasadena, Texas, Darlene and Jerry Hicks of Hallsville, Texas, David and Laurie Gann of The Colony, Texas, Ernie and Judi Gann of Longview, Texas, Dianne and Marlin Dorsey of Longview, Texas, Darryl and Pam Gann of Longview, Texas, James and Danna Gooch of Longview, Texas, and Jody and Jackie Gooch of Longview, Texas; and two stepdaughters, Brenda and Johnnie Taylor of Emory, Texas, and the late Barbara Clark of Paris, Texas. She was blessed with 28 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Also surviving her sister, Louise Dickey of Buna, Texas; brother, Ray and Barbara Israel of Tomball, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her first passion in life was serving her Lord and living for Him each day, but she felt her calling was loving and taking care of children in her home which she did for many years. She found great joy and happiness in caring for and ministering to the children God sent to her.

She attended Calvary Baptist Church in Longview and Brother Richard Jones will be officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Monday, July 19, 2010, at the funeral home.
