Bobbie Ray Gamel

Bobbie Ray Gamel of Longview passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at her home at the age of 91. She was born August 11, 1930, in Grand Prairie, Texas to parents Elton Myers and Ruth (Harred) Myers.

Bobbie married her late husband, Norman Joseph Gamel, on August 12, 1961, in Rusk, Texas. She sold Avon for over 40 years and won multiple achievements for her work. She was also a bookkeeper at Ashland Oil Company for many years.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Gamel was preceded in death by her sons, Russell L. Dorsey and Leslie E. Gamel; daughter, Sharon R. Green; granddaughter, Tiffany L. Otwell; grandson, Trenton J. Houghton; sister, Pat Holder; and brother, Melvin Myers.

She is survived by her children, John Gamel and wife Diana of Gladewater, Nan Gamel of Frisco, Jan Frith and husband David of Longview, and Gwen Gamel of Longview; grandchildren, Briana and John Morris of Longview, Amber and Lake McDowell of Gladewater, John and Monica Gamel of Gladewater, Taylor and Erin Houghton of Longview, Connor Smith of Frisco, Jaclyn Harvey of Longview, Jake Torres of White Oak, and Kimberlynn Gamel of Hallsville; great-grandchildren, Ayla Houghton and Dax Houghton of Longview, Mason Womack, Trentley Gamel and Kalley Gamel of Gladewater; Wes Morris and Hannah Morris of Longview; and Mila McDowell and Max McDowell of Gladewater.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Thursday, November 11, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lakeview Funeral Home, 5000 West Harrison Road, Longview, Texas 75604. A funeral service will occur Friday, November 12, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Lakeview Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Marion Coon.

Interment will follow in the mausoleum of Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

Serving as pallbearers will be Stephen Bean, David Frith, John Gamel, Jr., Taylor Houghton, Wes Morris, Connor Smith, and Jake Torres.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lakeview Funeral Home.
