Cynthia Jo Garland

Cynthia "Cindy" Jo Garland (née Weatherly), age 73, of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home on August 25, 2026, at 2:18 PM, following a long battle with lymphoma. She is now dancing and singing in heaven.

Cindy was born on October 23, 1952, in St. Joseph, Michigan, where she grew up.

She raised her family in Longview, Texas, before later moving to Austin to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Later in life, she pursued her passion for children by earning a degree in Early Childhood Development, a reflection of the special place children always held in her heart.

Beyond her love for children, Cindy found joy in cruising and beach vacations, cherishing time spent relaxing by the water and letting the sun shine on her face.

Cindy was a devoted believer, and it was evident throughout her home that Faith, Family, and Love were always at the center of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Joel Garland, in 1996.

Cindy is survived by her children, Scott Garland, Krysten Garland Mejia, Andrew Garland and his wife Arin Garland, and Jonathan Garland; her sister, Sandra Plunkett, and her husband Ray Plunkett; her 7 grandchildren; and her 6 great-grandchildren.

A burial service will be held on September 4, 2026 at 10:00 AM - Lakeview Memorial Gardens located at 5000 West Harrison Road, Longview, TX 75604. For more information, please call (903) 759-9493.
