Darrell Ray Lancaster of White Oak, TX passed away on April 27, 2019, just 2 days shy of his 71st birthday. He was born in Pittsburg, TX on April 29, 1948. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1967 and joined the Navy that same year. Darrell proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years as a medical corpsman. In 1969, he was attached to the 123rd Navy Seabees stationed in South Vietnam. In 1971, Darrell and his wife, Martha, moved back to East Texas. He worked at several fabrication plants through the years, but his favorite job was his last. He was happy and honored to work for White Oak ISD in the maintenance department for the last twelve years of his working career. Darrell also enjoyed being a member of the White Oak Volunteer Fire Department for many years. However, the thing that gave him the most joy was being a member and serving with the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed scouting as a boy, and eventually became an assistant Scout Master and then Scout Master for Troop 207 in White Oak. He went on to complete his Wood Badge in 1998, and received the Vigil Honor in the Order of the Arrow in 2001. In 2008, he was awarded the Founders Award for service to Tejas Lodge. He continued on to work with Scouts as they pursued the rank of Eagle and represented Scouting as a role model. Darrell lived his life by the Scout Oath and law. Darrell is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Martha (Marti), one son Randell Lancaster and wife Lisa of White Oak, and two wonderful grandchildren, Michael and Celia also of White Oak and many friends and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, T.J. and Mary Lancaster and his brother Larry. Darrell served his community with joy, loved his family, and enjoyed drinking coffee with his many friends. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, May 3rd, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of his life on Saturday, May 4th, at Lakeview Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Highway 80 Rescue Mission or the East Texas Area Council in care of Tejas Lodge for the purpose of beautifying the Camp Pirtle Scout Reservation.

I will never forget working Cub Scout events with Darrell. He always made it fun, and loved teaching the boys about the Scouting way of life. Darrell and Martha also raised a wonderful young man, whom I also got to see grow up in the Scout ways. You will be missed but leave behind an awesome legacy. May God keep his hands on your family during this difficult time!

Dear Martha & Family: We are so sorry to hear about Darrell’s recent passing. He will be greatly missed in the White Oak community & also remembering you two in the street rod ‘old car’ world many years ago. At the end of our road, having Jesus as our Lord & Savior is ALL that matters. (ROM 10:9-13) Our deepest prayers go out to each of you. 🙏
To God be the Glory!✝️
With love & sincere sympathy,🌹
