Dorothy May Carter

Funeral services for Dorothy May Patterson Carter will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Lakeview Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. before the service.

Mrs. Carter was born January 25, 1930, in Pocahontas, Virginia, to Rufus and Elsie Perry Patterson and passed from this life on August 4, 2015, in Longview, Texas.

Mrs. Carter retired as a cafeteria worker. She loved to play games of all types, as well as work cross word puzzles. But most of all, she loved caring for her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Edwin Gene Carter; and her sister, Hazel Gearhart. Mrs. Dorothy leaves behind to cherish her memory, two daughters, Mary Elaine Carter and Lynn Carter Gray and husband Eric; grandchildren, Michael Haught, Mandi Young and husband Chris, Mason Haught, Connor Gray, and Shelbi Kalinec and husband Clint; and great-grandson Carter Young. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of the Whispering Pines Lodge for all of the love and care that they have shown to Mrs. Carter and her family.
