

Douglas “Doug” Earl Wilbur, Sr., 67, of Longview, Texas passed away on February 12, 2013 at his residence in Longview, Texas. Doug was born on August 22, 1945 in Springfield, MA to Emory Earl and Vera Louise Wilbur. Doug served his country in the United States Navy, Naval Intelligence Division. He married Betty Bolton on October 16, 1965. He was a machinist maintainer for Crown Cork in Longview until the plant closed in 1992, causing him to retire. Doug was a member of the Pine Tree Masonic Lodge #1396.
Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing, mowing yards, digging for diamonds and crystals in Arkansas, but especially loved giving the grandkids rides on the red wagon and pulling them with the riding lawn mower. He was also the member of the family that loved attending family reunions and visiting with the family that he didn’t get to see often.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years: Betty Wilbur of Longview; Sons: Doug Wilbur, Jr. of Longview and Don Wilbur and his wife Jennifer of Longview; Grandchildren: Kimberly Wilbur, Kelli Wilbur, Cody Wilbur, and Brooke Wilbur all of Longview, Autumn Wilbur of Tyler, Chelsie Springer and her husband Nick of Diamond, MO, Michael Wilbur of Hallsville, and Joshua Wilbur of Chicago, Il; Great Grandchildren: Aubrey, Kaylin, Paige, and Asher; Sisters: Diana Burns of Georgia and Donna Knox and her husband Ken of Orlando, Florida. He is preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Debbie.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the Chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Adams officiating. Entombment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. A time of visitation with the family will begin at 9:00 until service time at the funeral home on Saturday.
