Elawese was born on March 17, 1935, to Marvin James Shamburger and Otha Truitt of

Hawkins, TX.

Elawese grew up on her daddy’s farm and helped care for her six younger brothers and

sisters. She helped tend to the daily household chores and worked in the family's

garden. She will be remembered for her love for gardening, sewing, and the exceptional

care she gave both to her craft and those that she loved.

She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Collins; her son, Jerry Simmons; her

brothers, Billy, Donnie, and Jimmie Shamburger; and her sister, Paulette Collins.

She is survived by her sisters, Bonnie Perry of Longview, TX, and Charlsa LeClear of

Clovis, NM, her daughter Cindy McDaniel and husband Don of Keller, TX, her son

Glenn Simmons of Gladewater, TX, her granddaughters Crystal Sanders of Ben

Wheeler, TX, Misty Schoonover and husband Clint of Gladewater, TX, Rachel Hawkes

and husband Joe of Keller, TX, Michelle Cabanyog and husband Daniel of Saginaw, TX,

and countless great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and

friends.

Her family is welcoming friends to join them at her viewing on Monday, February 27th

from 6:00 - 8:00 and her services on Tuesday, February 28th at 11:00 at:

Sheriff’s Department for your support on the night of her passing. You both went above
