Elizabeth (Betty) Chase Dugan

Elizabeth (Betty) Chase Dugan, 90, of Longview, was born on January 13, 1927 in Denison, TX to Algernon Sydney Chase and Alice Walcott Chase. That particular January 13th happened to be on a Friday, so all of her life, she felt as if Friday the 13th was a lucky day for her. She went to school in Denison and graduated in 1944. After graduation, she moved to Long Beach, CA to live with her sister. She found a job there and was a working citizen for the Dept. of the Navy. This lasted a couple of years, and she moved back to Denison with her family. It didn't take long until she found a job with Southwestern Bell as an operator. While working at SWB, she met Audley Dugan while he was in the area doing telephone repairs for SWB. They were married on May 13, 1950, yes it was Friday the 13th, her lucky day. After they were married, she moved to Longview with Audley, where they made their home in the Pine Tree area. Soon after, two children were born: Frank and Pam. She enjoyed being a part of her kids lives, whether it be volunteering for Scout Leader or leading crafts for Pam's Brownie Troop, she was involved. She was a member of the Pine Tree Band Boosters while Frank was in band there. She also enjoyed tending to her flower gardens around the house. She was especially proud of her azaleas and periwinkles.

She is survived by her two children: Frank Dugan of Irving and Pam Dugan of Longview; sister: Mildred Kyle of Silverdale, WA; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother: Algernon Sydney Chase; sisters: Margie Galyon and Anna Marie Daniels.

A time of visitation with her family will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Lakeview Funeral Home with a celebration of her life at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 6, 2017 at the Chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Berger officiating. Entombment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Rodney Burns, Louie Burch, Bobby Ward, Don Kyle, Andy Chase, and Sam Lake.
