

James Kenneth Dunaway, age 73 passed away peacefully beside his wife, Debbie, on February 20, 2026 in Longview, Texas. He was born on May 3,1952 in Murray, Kentucky to Jim Dunaway and Julie Fiveash. Ken was raised in Cairo, IL, and graduated from Pine Tree Highschool in 1970. He then went on to join the US Airforce for seven years. He married Debbie Dunaway in 2003, and the couple had, between them, 7 children. They were married for 23 years.
Ken was a self-employed truck driver for more than 45 years. In his spared time, he enjoyed cooking (especially for a crowd), and driving a truck. Debbie says, “I would want to stop and site see,” and he would say, “If these wheels ain’t rolling, I ain’t making no money!” His family and friends will always remember him as a very loving, giving man. He was a great family man and friend! He was a great and loving husband. Debbie says, “We took care of each other!”
He is preceded in death by his: dad, Jim Dunaway; stepdad, “Pop” Howard Upshaw; sisters, Sherry Upshaw and Carole Conroe Upshaw; brother, Bobby Upshaw; mother, Julie Fiveash; brother in-law, Richard Watson.
He is survived by his: wife, Debbie Dunaway; sister, Joyce Watson; sons, Tim McCann, Eric Keith, David Carter, Stephen Carter, Kevin Carter, Terry Carter, and Greg Carter; brother-in-law, David Richardson Sr.; stepbrother, Ronnie Upshaw; brother-in-law, Bob Conroe; numerous grandkids and numerous great-grandkids.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Lakeview Funeral Home, 5000 West Harrison Road, Longview, TX 75604, US, on March 6, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
A Committal Service will take place at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, 5000 W Harrison Rd, Longview, TX 75604, US, on March 6, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
