Jim, also known lovingly as Pops, was raised in Lakeview, Ohio, where he attended and graduated from Stokes/Indian Lake High School in 1953. He was a hardworking man who proudly served his country and dedicated many years of his life to serving others.
Jim served in the military from 1954 to 1980, including time with the Marine Corps, Marine Corps Reserve, Air Force Reserve, and Ohio Army National Guard.
On November 1, 1974, Jim married Barbara L . Parry (Mosko), and together they shared 51 years of marriage and a lifetime of memories. Barbara’s two children became an important part of Jim’s life and family.
Jim started his construction career in 1958, specializing in commercial, institutional, and industrial construction. Jim started at Nolton Construction as a carpenter and was later promoted to construction superintendent.
He continued his career with Peterson Construction, then Baker Concrete, which moved him from Ohio to Florida. Jim then retired from the construction industry after last working for HCR Manor Care (multiple U.S. locations), where he spent time building and repairing nursing homes.
When Jim wasn't working, he enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He loved fishing, water skiing, camping, RVing, woodworking, and farming. He enjoyed staying busy, spending time outdoors, and making memories with the people he loved.
Those who knew Jim will remember his mischievous spirit and wonderful sense of humor. He was a prankster, strong-willed, and always ready to have fun. He had a generous heart and always wanted to help others whenever he could. His family and friends will forever cherish the memories of his laughter, his personality, his willingness to help, and all the fun he brought into their lives.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, father Lester D. and mother Beryl (Van horn) Taylor, and brothers Robert E. Taylor and Richard S. Taylor.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Barbara L. Taylor; his stepchildren, son Brad Parry and wife Michelle of Longview, Texas, and daughter Julie Streeter and husband Jeff of Kilgore, Texas, and granddaughters Jillian Parry of Longview, Texas and Jenalee Raygor and husband David of Overton, Texas; grandson Jared Streeter and wife Haley of McKinney, Texas; as well as five amazing great-grandchildren.
Jim will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but the memories of his life, his laughter, his mischievous ways, and the love he shared with those around him will live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
