Jessie Nelson Hargrave

Jessie Nelson Hargrave, 86, of Longview, passed away September 7, 2015 at his residence in Longview. He was born October 13, 1928 in Catchings, Mississippi to Jessie W. and Alberta Me Hargrave. He graduated high school and joined the Army to serve his country during the Korean War. After the war, he married Bobbie Ruth Smith July 4, 1953 in Anguilla, Mississippi. She preceded him in death on July 4, 2012. He retired from Continental Can Company in 1991 after over 38 years of service. He was an active member of Greggton United Church, The Veterans of Foreign War Post #4002 and the Steel Workers of America.

He is survived by sons: John Hargrave and his wife Jenna of Union Grove, and Robert Hargrave of Gloucester, VA; grandchildren: Jaclyn Watson and her husband Mark of Union Grove, John Macy Hargrave and his wife Manuela of San Diego, CA, Robert Hargrave of Gloucester, VA, Stephen Hargrave of Gloucester, VA and Shelby Hargrave of Galax, VA; great grandchildren: John Mason Procell of Union Grove,Austin Procell of Union Grove and Anna Luiza Hargrave of San Diego, CA; brothers: Pete Hargrave and wife Linda of Rollingfork, MS, Smitty Hargrave and wife Carolyn of Rollingfork, MS, Bill Hargrave and wife Wanda of Houston, John Hargrave and wife Nell of Jackson, MS.

Sisters: Maxine Boughton of Rancho Cordova, Ca, Faye Holley of Conroe, TX and Sarah Strong of Rollingfork, MS.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the Chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Ricks officiating. Entombment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015 at the funeral home.
