
JD was born on December 20, 1953 in Mt. Vernon, Texas to Elbert (Peewee) and Tommie Roberts and was raised in Winnsboro, Texas. He was even deemed "Mr. PanAm" at Winnsboro High School. He graduated from Tyler Junior College in 1975 and later married Joanie Roberts in 1988. Together, the couple had 2 children. JD was a Parts Manager at Varlow Dealership where he worked for over 32 years. In his spare time, JD enjoyed his grandkids and great-grandkid, Dallas Cowboy Football, his dogs Buddy and Jack, being involved with the Boy Scouts, motorcycle riding, and was a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association. His friends and family will always remember him as a die-hard Cowboys and Ford fan, his love for collecting coins, and his faith and his church, New Beginnings in Longview, Texas.
JD is preceded in death by his parents Elbert (Peewee) and Tommie Roberts, and his sister Hazel Spillers.
JD is survived by: his wife, Joanie Roberts; his step-son Sergio Sanchez and wife Miranda; his grandkids London Taylor and Sergio Omar Sanchez III; his step-daughter Sherie Newman and husband Brandon Wattleworth; his grandkids Ana-Kate Tupa and husband Matt Tupa; Ashlynne Newman and her husband Juan (Tiba), Alayna Newman and Millie; his great-grandkid Mikey and Charlotte; his brother Jerry and wife Mary Roberts, and their children Krista and Shannon.
