John E Edmonson

John Edward Edmonson, 76, of Longview, passed away April 19, 2016 surrounded by his family. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 22, 2016 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens under the direction of Lakeview Funeral Home, with Bro. Wayne Spanhanks officiating. John was born December 5, 1939 in Gladewater, Texas. He was a Master Mason in the Gladewater Masonic Lodge No. 852 AF&AM.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Whitten Edmonson, daughters, Julie(Terry) Edney of Gilmer, Paige(Brannon) Childers of Longview, and Allison Bowles of Longview; his sister, Sandra Edmonson Day of Gladewater, and sister- in- law, Shirley Whitter Edmonson of Shady Grove. John is also survived by his six grandchildren: Aidyn Edney; Hadleigh and Addison Childers; Whitten, Eliza, and Gus Bowles; along with many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Edmonson was preceded in death by his parents; Bryant Ezell “Jack” and Iva Dimple Barron Edmonson of Gladewater; sisters Beverly Dawn Edmonson and Mary Dianne Sylvestro; brothers Thomas Andrew “Buckie” Edmonson and Delvin Bryant “Blackie” Edmonson.

John’s favorite scripture from the bible that brought him comfort in the final days of his life: John 3:16 “For God so loved the world he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
