June Ellen Stephens, age 77, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2024, in Longview, TX, with her son, Trey, daughter, Brandi, and son-in-law, Chris, by her side. June was born in Longview, Texas, on February 5, 1947, to Gracie and Hershal Hutcheson. June was blessed to have 10 sisters and two brothers with whom to share her laughter, fears, tears, dreams, and, above all….love. Her family was very special to her throughout all of these years.
First and foremost, June was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed her 27-year employment at Southwest Steel and the life-long friends she made there. Her hobbies included working outdoors, family time, and doting on her grandchildren. She also enjoyed drawing closer to God during her daily devotional time with her nieces, sisters, brother, and sister-in-law. She was the true meaning of grace, forgiveness, and love!
June was preceded in death by her mother and father, husband, Sherman Stephens, Jr. and her sisters, Mary Alice Theis, Anna Lou Beard, Laura Evelyn Betts, Mildred Pauline Brooks, Helen Virginia Smith, Carolyn Laverne Tanner, and brother, Hershal Howard Hutcheson
Left to share her memory are her son, Sherman Stephens III (Trey), daughter and son-in-law, Brandi and Chris Barlow of Longview; granddaughter, Hayley Gill and husband Tyler Gill of Longview, grandson, Kyle Stephens of Mansfield, Sean Stephens of Forney, Blake Barlow of Longview, Josh Stephens of Forney, Bryn Stephens of Forney, and one precious great-granddaughter, Ellie June Gill. Also sharing her loss are sisters Joyce Marie Williams, Sue Ann and Ben Boyd, Jane Lanelle Franklin, Virginia Gail Reed, William Thomas and Pat Hutcheson; beloved nieces and nephews, and so many cherished friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on June 2, 2024, at Lakeview Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Honorary pallbearers are Kyle Stephens, Sean Stephens, Blake Barlow, and Josh Stephens.
The family would like to extend their love and gratitude to all of the administration, nurses, and aids at Heartsway Hospice, our family and friends, Willia Roberts, and Comfort Keepers. Their daily care, love, and respect for our sweet “Granny" and the support they gave to our family were endless. This phenomenal group was right beside us with care, hugs, and, above all, prayers throughout this journey.
