Kathlyn was born in the farming community of Goat Neck near Cleburne, Texas, on June 24, 1919. She moved to White Oak and graduated from Longview High School in 1936. She attended BMI Business School 1936-37. She married Ray Scurlock in 1938. She was a homemaker and later worked with Coats Drilling Company in Gladewater until retirement. She lived at Buckner Westminster Place in Longview and then moved to Mustang Creek Estates Assisted Living in Allen where she passed away on March 1, 2018 at the age of 98.
She was very active in church work at First United Methodist Church Gladewater and Winterfield United Methodist Church in Longview. She also was a group leader for Cub Scouts and Camp Fire Girls.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ray Scurlock, her second husband, Grover Grant, and a very special friend, T.W. Moughon. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling and fishing.
Family members include her son and daughter in law, Steve and Jill Scurlock of Gladewater, daughter and son in law, Sharon Scurlock Berryman and Marty Berryman of Lucas, stepdaughter and husband, Carol and Larry Douglas and stepdaughter Lynn Grant Tippens. Grandchildren include Matthew Berryman, Michael Berryman, Corey Scurlock, Deanna Chandler, Brandon Burr, Jeff Burr and David Tippens and several great grand children.
Close family friends include Dennis and Linda Henderson, Tom and Mae Moughon, Joe and Debbie Moughon and their extended families.
Larry Douglas will be leading the service at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Berryman, Marty Berryman, Robert Chandler, Tom Moughon, Joe Moughon, Dennis Henderson, John Preston and Danny Sorrells.
She will be remembered for her faith in the Lord, her radiant smile and her ability to find the good in all situations and all people.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Mustang Creek Estates Assisted Living in Allen and Total Hospice and Palliative Care in Dallas for the exceptional love and care they gave to our mother, Kathlyn.
