Kelly Donelle Butler
September 18, 1946 – October 27, 2018
Kelly Donelle Butler (Greer), of Gladewater, went peacefully to be with her heavenly Father on October 27, 2018 at the age of 72. Kelly ended her well-fought, five-month battle with cancer at home surrounded by her loving husband, son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter.
Kelly is survived by her husband of 52 years Paul, son and daughter-in-law, Sean and Samantha of Tyler and her 3-week old granddaughter, Ryann. Also left to honor Kelly are sisters Pat Roe of Yuma, Arizona, Frances Ferguson of Gladewater, brother Charles “Corkey” Greer of Gladewater, and a number of nieces and nephews. Kelly was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Edna Greer and sisters Joyce Rodgers and Suzanne McWhirter.
Kelly lived most of her life in Gladewater and worked for the Jack L. Phillips Company where she was secretary for her longtime boss and friend, Jack Phillips. She was a member of the White Oak church of Christ and considered all the members there to be family. Kelly loved butterflies, flowers, lighthouses, reading Danielle Steele and John Grisham, using Print Shop on her computer, going shopping, taking and viewing pictures of family, and playing games. However, what she loved the most was her family and especially her granddaughter, Ryann, who made her a “Mimi” on October 4, 2018. Becoming “Mimi” to Ryann motivated her throughout her fight with cancer and gave her such joy when she finally got to meet and hold her granddaughter. Friends and family would describe Kelly as a faithful Christian, generous, loving, organized, hospitable, innocent, and kindhearted.
Services for Kelly will be held at Lakeview Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens in Longview with visitation Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. and funeral services Friday, November 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with a graveside service to follow.
The family would like to thank all of Kelly’s friends and loved ones for the cards, calls, flowers, food, and most importantly their prayers during her battle. Kelly is now healed and has received her crown of glory. “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases.” Psalm 103:2–3
