

He was born December 19, 1945 in Pittsburg, Texas to E.W. (Buddy) and Marie Pilgrim. His family moved to Snyder, Texas in 1957. After finishing high school, he joined the US Navy. He proudly served his country from 1965 to 1969, serving three tours in Vietnam.
On October 28, 1965, he married Janutta Ward in Snyder where they both grew up. Living with his family in Snyder, he worked 10 years for the American Magnesium Company while going to college at night. He graduated with honors earning an associate degree in Business Management from Western Texas College. He went to work for CE Natco in 1977 and transferred to Longview in 1979. He retired in December 1998 from Natco and started his own business, Pilgrim Oil & Gas Technical Services in January 1999.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Janutta Pilgrim, daughter, Angie Turner; son, Justin Pilgrim and wife Wendy; five grandchildren, Jonathan Surber and wife Kacie, Aaron Turner, Sierra Pilgrim, Sarah Turner and Zoie Pilgrim; one great grandson, Caden Surber. One brother, Johnny Pilgrim and wife Jeanie; four sisters, Charlotte Collier, Faitha Morrell and husband Steve, Sue Riley and husband Mike, Sheila Walton and husband Dale; several nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
Larry was a member of East Mountain Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A time of visitation with his family will be held from 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Lakeview Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 23, 2016 at the Chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Blank officiating. A private family committal will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Pallbearers are David Gerald, Mike Hendrix, Steve Carpenter, Clifford Bible, Jeff White, Emory Vivion, alternates: Ryan Guzman and Mark Carpenter.
