Letha Mae Benefield Hart

Letha Hart, 78, of Longview, TX , passed away on February 28, 2015 at a local hospital. She was born on August 3, 1936 in Weady, Alabama to Colbert B. and Burtha McCormick Benefield. Mrs. Hart believed in working hard and getting your education. She worked as a custodian for Longview High School from 1972-1982 and at Kilgore College from 1982 to 2007. She loved reading and being around the kids and visiting with them as well as the teachers and other staff members. In fact, throughout her life, she never really met a stranger. She loved her Lord, her church and her church family, and really enjoyed being a member of the Calvary Christian Tabernacle in Longview.

She is survived by her sister: Genova Jean Roberts of Clifton, TX; daughter: Beverly Slatter and her husband, Buddy of White Oak; son: Billy Hart of Marshall, TX; grandchildren: Troy Arthur Reeve of Graceland, LA, Heather Marie Slatter Rogers and her husband Mike of Longview, and Justin Marshall Hart of Marshall; four great grandchildren: Tyler Arthur Reeve, Austin Wayne Reeve, Troy Christopher Reeve, and Kallie McKenzie Rogers; as well as a number of nieces, nephew, cousins and extended family members. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother: Arthur D. Benefield and her daughter: Kathy Hart Navarro.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2015 at the Lakeview Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Calvary Christian Tabernacle, 301 East Hawkins Pkwy, Longview, TX 75605, with Rev. Charles Chargois, and Rev. Richard Dool officiating.
