Linda Woods was born on August 28, 1944 to Austin and Rosa Lee Woods in Orange, Texas. She passed away on Wednesday, September 2, in Crockett, Texas at the age of 82. She was the oldest of seven children.
She was raised in Kilgore, TX and graduated from high school there in 1963. She started a family soon thereafter, and became a mother to four children; Patti, John, Terry, and Janie. Her family settled in the Longview, Texas area, where Linda worked for Spurgeon Toyota, enjoyed bowling and served in her church through bus ministry and mission trips with her husband Johnny. She became a Christian in November 1977 and attended Terrace Hills Baptist Church and served there with her family.
In 1985, she moved to Houston, where she bought a house and continued her career working for oil companies like Cameron Control, WKM, Ingram Cactus, & Schlumberger doing Quality Control Documentation. The last decade of her life in retirement and independence was spent living in Crockett, TX.
She is preceded in death by her ex-husband Johnny Woods, parents Austin & Rosa Lee Woods, her brothers Carl Woods & Jackie Woods, her sister Betty Swanson and two grandchildren Jonathan & Jenny Woods.
She is survived by her children Patti Wilson of Harleton, John A. Woods (Jennifer) of Hutto, Terry Woods (Shiela) of Grapeland, Janie Lankford (Darren) of Houston; brothers Robert Woods of Longview, Charles Woods of Kilgore, Jerry Woods of Harleton; Grandchildren: Brandon Woods, Bradley Woods, Brenna Hine (Brendan), Bethany Woods, Jordan Tho (Vrack), Blake Lankford, Rayne Lankford, Carl Woods (Sara), Sabrina Brooks, David Gamble, Mitchell Morgan (Chelsey), Michelle Morgan, Stacey Pruitt (J.D.); Great Grandkids: Ella, Grayson, Tanner, Diamond, Megin, Heather, Butch, Walker, Colton, Albery, Westley, Cailan, Kayleigh, Caison, Avery and many other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.
A visitation will be held at Lakeview Funeral Home, 5000 West Harrison Road, Longview, TX 75604, US, on September 8, 2026, at 1:00 pm, followed by the Funeral Service at the same location on September 8, 2026, at 2:00 pm. A Committal Service will take place at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, at the same address.
