She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Marion Turner and her oldest son, Danny. She is survived by her children: Carol Gibson, Mike Turner, his wife Brenda, and Preston. She has three grandchildren: Matthew, Jonathan, and Breanna as well as great-grandchildren: Clara, Landon, William, and Zachary.
Mom was a successful practicing nurse and business owner. She was known throughout her life for her integrity, her work ethic, and her faithful witness of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Mom was raised in Arkansas during the worst of the Great Depression. Times were very hard and sometimes worse; many times her mom and three sisters didn’t know when they would eat next. Jobs were scarce, food was more scarce and incomes were limited; resulting in some young people leaving school early, as mom did.
But she persevered through the years and would later earn her LVN license from Nursing School and go on to a successful 26 year career at various medical facilities here in East Texas. Later, she became co-owner, with her husband, in local business ventures remembered as "The Arcade" and "The Yum Yum Tree". Mom also loved to paint and share her many works with others. She had to retire in 1994 to devote full time taking care of our dad.
Mom loved the Lord, accepting Christ in her early twenties and gladly serving Him the rest of her life. She regularly shared her faith and testimony whenever the opportunity presented itself; even while in hospice. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. We will always remember her loving kindness and we miss her very, very much.
Arrangements are being handled by Lakeview Funeral Home, where visitors will be received by the family on Saturday, September 26th from 11am till 12pm.
Services are set for 2 pm Saturday, September 26th while subsequent interment will be at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
